This is a collection of short episodes based on Japanese Folk Tales, the series was originally broadcast on MBS in 1975 and on TBS from 1976 to 1994 and reached a peak audience rating of 33.6% in Tokyo. During that time over 2800 episodes (1400 half hour episodes with two short tales each) were created.

TBS had received many requests to re-air the series from adults who grew up watching the it present the old folk tales like Momotaro (Peach Boy) and The Monkey and the Crab.
