The stamp is issued with the assistance of the public organization "Ahova ptushak Batskaushchyny" (Protection of Homeland Birds).

The public organization "Ahova ptushak Batskaushchyny" declared the greylag goose a bird of the year 2009.

There are logos of the International organization of birds protection "BirdLife International" and Belarus public organization "Ahova ptushak Batskaushchyny" (APB) on the stamps.

The Great Egret (Ardea alba or Egretta alba), also known as the Great White Egret, White Heron, or Common Egret, is a wading egret, found in most of the tropical and warmer temperate parts of the world, although it is very local in southern Europe and Asia. It is called Kōtuku in New Zealand. It is sometimes confused with the Great White Heron in Florida, which is a white morph of the Great Blue Heron.

The Great Egret is a large bird with all white plumage that can reach 101 cm in height and weigh up to 950 g. It is only slightly smaller than the Great Blue or Grey Herons. Apart from size, the Great Egret can be distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow bill and black legs and feet. It also has a slow flight, with its neck retracted. This is characteristic of herons and bitterns, and distinguishes them from storks, cranes and spoonbills, which extend their necks. More...

Konstanty Wasyl Ostrogski (1526-13 February 1608) (Lithuanian: Konstantinas Vasilijus Ostrogiškis) was a Lithuanian prince, starost of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Marshal of Volhynia and voivode of Kyiv Voivodship, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Married on January 1553 in Tarnów. Refused to help False Dmitriy I. Supporter of Jan Zamoyski.

In 1570s he waged war against another magnate, Stanisław Tarnowski, about disputed possession of estates in the area of Tarnów. Among Ostrogski's private army were units of the Tatars.

Comment: According to Wikipedia.com, Ostrogski is a Lithuanian, so I have no idea why Belarus issued his stamp. Do you know whether he and Belarus had any relationship.

The National Arts Museum is the biggest museum in the Republic of Belarus. The basis of the collection was created in the first decades of the 20th century. During World War II the museum was plundered by the Nazi. The fate of the collection remains one of the greatest mysteries of the twentieth century. During the post-war period, due to the enthusiasm and dedicated work of the museum's workers, it was reconstructed. In 1957, the Art Gallery was renamed and moved to the new building. In 1999, the museum received its national status.

Nowadays there are more than 25,600 exhibits. And the biggest collections of the museum are:

Yakub Kolas, Jakub Kołas (Belarusian: Яку́б Ко́лас, November 3 [O.S. October 22] 1882 – August 13, 1956), real name Kanstancy Mickievič (Міцке́віч Канстанці́н Міха́йлавіч) was a Belarusian writer, People's Poet of the Byelorussian SSR (1926), and member (1928) and vice-president (from 1929) of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences.

He wrote collections of poems Songs of Captivity (1908) and Songs of Grief (Песьні-жальбы, 1910), poems A New Land (Новая зямля, 1923) and Simon the Musician (Сымон-музыка, 1925), stories, and plays. His poem The Fisherman's Hut (Рыбакова хата, 1947) is about the fight after unification of Belarus with the Soviet state. His trilogy At a Crossroads (1954) is about the pre-Revolutionary life of the Belarusian peasantry and the democratic intelligentsia. He was awarded the USSR State Prize in 1946 and 1949.

Čepkeliai Nature Reserve, situated on the southern edge of Lithuania, consists of the biggest array of marsh in the country, overgrown continental dunes, forests and relic lakes. The River Katra marks the southern boundary of the reserve as well as the state border with Belarus. Behind it the Katra sanctuary runs in Belarus.Specific nature conditions have determined a wide variety of rare plant, insect, amphibian, reptile and bird species. Here breed the biggest populations of Great Snipes in Lithuania as well as Corncrakes, which are rare in other areas. Čepkeliai has become a safe shelter for these birds.

The Great Snipe (Gallinago media) is a very rare bird of the family Scolopacidae in Lithuania and is considered as a universally declining bird species included to the Red Data Book of Lithuania. A bird’s body reaches up to 28 cm in length; weight is 62-74 g. When flying may be recognized from white sides of the tail and 2 or 3 white strips along the wings.

The Corncrake (Crex crex) is a bird of the family Rallidae, also included to the Red Data Book of Lithuania. It lives in damp meadows and the valleys of rivers. Nests in high grass. Runs very fast and feels itself better on the ground than in the air. Flies badly and slowly. The body reaches up to 23 cm in length; weight is 130-190 g. When flying may be recognized from brown sides of the body and quite long outstretched legs.

The Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, through ten countries and over 2,820 km. The chain was established and used by the German-born Russian scientist Friedrich Georg Wilhelm von Struve in the years 1816 to 1855 to establish the exact size and shape of the earth.
