Estonia Postal Stationery
Name: The 290th Anniversary of Tallinn's Kadriorg Park
Date of Issue: 22 July 2008
The history of Kadriorg Palace – one of the finest Baroque ensembles in North Europe – dates back to 1718. On July 22, 1718 Russian Tsar Peter the Great, assisted by the Italian architect Niccolo Michetti, began the building of the palace and the park to a picturesque spot near Tallinn, later on renamed Kadriorg after Empress Catherine I.
Comment: This Postcard was sent from Kadrioru Post Office (in Estonian grammar, if it has any word behind "Kadriorg", the "Kadriorg" should be changed to "Kadrioru"), the nearest post office from the Kadriorg Park, which was closed last year. For this jubilee, Eesti Post temporary reopened this post office in only few days. I'm so lucky that my Esotnian friend sent this postcard from this "temporary post office", and I got a "temporary postmark" at the same time.
