Issue date: 2007 September 2nd
Jinhu Lake situated in Taining County, Fujian Province, Jinhu Lake was formed during the construction of Chitan Hydropower Station, and the name came from Jinxi Stream where it is located. Crescent-shaped, the lake covers an area of 38 square kilometers. Around the lake are beautiful mountains grotesque caves and stones. The clear and clean water, together with groups of red rocks continuing dozens of kilometers, composes a wonderful scene of overwater Danxia, rare in China. Lush trees along the lake, old temples and fishmen's villages among trees, make the scenery even more beautiful and diverse. The unique natural scenery and historical sites form a delightful contrast, attracting a large number of visitors. The lake is presently a national geopark and a key scenic spot.
