Name: The World Heritage (3rd series) : Shiretoko Peninsula

On July 2005, "Shiretoko Peninsula" located in the northeast of Hokkaido was appointed to be the thirteen World Heritage and third World Natural Heritage in Japan. Peninsula and surrounding marine area show us outstanding example of the ecosystems influenced by the formation of seasonal sea ice. It is also the host place for animals including many endangered and endemic species.
