Diqing, means "a piece of auspicious and fascinating land" in Tibetan. Diqing is a Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwest Yunnan. It occupies an area of 23,870 square kilometters. The population is over 350,000 involving 26 nationalities, 9kings of ethnic languages and 5 kinds of characters. There are 3 counties in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, namely Shangri-la County, Deqin County and Weixi Lisu Autonomous County.
