Located in Wudalianchi city in Heilongjiang province, Wudalian Lake Volcanoes is a famous tourist attraction of volcano. The scenic area was formed by a breakout of volcano in 1719 to 1721. After which, five connected lava lakes were formed.

There are not only five lakes, but also some other 14 volcanoes in this area. The Laohei Mountain and the Huoshao Mountain are the two youngest volcanoes among the 14.

The best time for tourists to visit is from June to September. Tourists may not just view the charming scenery, but also to bathe here. It was said that the spring here has the function of curing some diseases. Therefore, sanatoriums are built for tourists.

With this in mind, Taiwan Post is issuing a set of four stamps featuring the buildings of Dharma Drum Mountain, the Chung Tai Chan Monastery, the Fo Guang Shan Monastery and the Tzu Chi Foundation. The stamps will be released on May 24, 2007. The stamps, which have white backgrounds to symbolize the pristine purity of the Buddhist world, feature the most representative buildings of Dharma Drum Mountain, the Chung Tai Chan Monastery, the Fo Guang Shan Monastery and the Tzu Chi Foundation.

According to a report published by WHO, in 2002, and average of 3,242 were killed every day in road traffic crashes, and that rate rises daily with the increase in population and the proliferation of automobiles. This report points out that these numbers are even worse in low and middle-income countries, where 90% of deaths caused by road traffic crashes occur; the report states that between 1990 and 2020, deaths are likely to rise in average more than 80% in lower-income countries, while decreasing almost 30% in high-income countries.

Name: The 175th birth anniversary of P.P. Chistjakov 1832-1919), the painter

Pavel Petrovich Chistiakov (1832-1919) was a historical painter, a genre painter, a portrait painter and a wonderful teacher. He received higher education in Bezhetsk ujezd colledge. He entered Emperor's Academy of Arts in 1849 and his nearest teacher there was P.V.Basin. He received all established silver and golden medals in the college for top-level classroom pictures and sketches in the Academy and he also received a small golden medal for his picture "Patriarch Germogen in prison" in 1860. Pavel Chistiakov went abroad as a scholar of the Academy and visited some towns in Germany, he also worked in Paris and in Rome. On his returning to Saint Petersburg in 1870 he was awarded a title of an academician for his pictures made abroad "Roman beggar", "A head of a chucharka" and "A Frenchman, preparing for a ball". Chistiakov's portrait, painted by I.E.Repin (1878, The State Tretiakov Gallery), is depicted on the stamp.

The legendary Kong Rong (153-208) was one of the role models of courtesy, as he always placed other people's interest above his own. And this was already evident when he was very young. A famous incident happened when he was about four years old.

He was the second youngest of six boys. One day, his father asked him to pick a pear from a plate; he chose the smallest, reasoning that his elder brothers and the youngest brother should have the bigger ones.

This well-known story, also mentioned in the Three Character Classic, has been commonly used to educate children even nowadays on the values of courtesy and fraternal love.
