Name: The Symbol of Moscow - St. George the Victorious

Since the time of Dmitry Donskoy St. George is the patron saint of Moscow. From the late XIV-XV centuries. in Moscow heraldry constantly at a picture of a rider spearing a serpent. In the popular mind he was perceived as an image of St. George, and in 1730 it was formalized.

Coat of arms of Moscow is an image on a dark red heraldic shield with the ratio of width to height of 8:9-scale to the right of the viewer rider - St. George the Victorious in silver armor and a blue mantle (cloak), a silver horse, striking a golden spear black serpent.
