Today, the library, consisting of its headquarters north of Beijing's Zizhuyuan Park and the Ancient Books Library west to Beihai Park, is a national repository of the home publications, a national bibliographic center, and a national center of ancient books protection. Thanks to a century of cultural deposit, the National Library serves as a systematic national cultural treasury housing a great number of precious ancient books, represented by the Wenjin Chamber copy of Complete Collection of the Four Treasuries and Yongle Encyclopedia. It has made a great contribution to the promotion of the Chinese civilization. With distinctive reading and exhibition halls, state-of-the-art facilities, a wide collection of books, and diverse services, the National Library is now one of the largest and most modern-equipped libraries in the world.
